About
About Rory Jakeman
I’m a British voice over artist, the voice audiences hear at live events and in brand films. I also call shows, so I know exactly how a live event sounds from the production desk.
I started out in London’s West End, spending ten years in stage management on shows like Matilda, The Book of Mormon and Motown the Musical. In 2019 I moved into live events as a show caller, and I’ve since called opening ceremonies, sporting events, product launches, global summits and awards shows across five continents.
That’s why my voice over work sounds the way it does. I know what a production needs from a voice, because I’m usually the one calling the cue. Whichever seat I’m in, the goal is the same: a show that runs so smoothly nobody notices how hard it was.
I’m also a serving British Army Reserve soldier, and military occasions have become a speciality: I’m Stage Manager on the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, I was Event Manager for VE Day 80 at the Royal Albert Hall, and I’ve worked on West End Heroes.
